To be totally honest, I’ve always been keen on knowing more about breast cancer but never did much about it.
Today, I was invited to learn more about the only plastic and oncologic center in Romania, MedLife. A traditional PR event with bunch of interesting and influencing lady bloggers in Romania.
Having so many doctors in front of you telling you about cancer treatment and prevention was a bit scary, but at the same time I was extremely happy that I’ve got to know a lot of things about breast cancer, its methods of prevention and what can be done while having to do a surgery. Never understood all these medical terms, but I’ve been explained today in easy understandable words that things can be done and how easy is to prevent the disease. Another thing I found interesting is that most gynos don’t know much about breast cancer so he/ she is not the person you should ask for an examination.
One more thing I didnt know is that one of the first breast reconstructions in the world was made in Cluj, Romania in the ’70s ( a real reason to be proud of). Also, in Romania it’s going to happen a unique surgery in the world for breast prevention. Didn’t ask too many details about it, but it was interesting.
I’ve also learnt that men can have breast cancer, especially after the age of 55. Never in my life heard of such thing and it’s interesting to see that there’s no organisation fighting against men breast cancer.
Overall, I’ve enjoyed all the info and now I feel wiser and maybe a bit more cautious.
